Mowing a Large Lot in Cypress, TX: What It Costs
October 4, 2026
A big lot changes the job, because more grass means more time on every visit, and that shows up in the price. This post explains what weekly mowing currently costs on lots from about a quarter acre up to one acre in Cypress, TX, and why the numbers look the way they do.
First, what counts as a large lot. Our two larger tiers run from 10,001 to 20,000 square feet, which is about a quarter to a half acre, and from 20,001 square feet up to one acre, which is about a half to one acre. An acre is 43,560 square feet, and lot size means the whole lot, not just the part that is covered in grass.
Here are the current weekly rates, per visit, before sales tax. Weekly mowing is currently $65 per visit for lots from 10,001 to 20,000 square feet, and it is currently $80 per visit for lots from 20,001 square feet up to one acre. A lot that measures exactly 10,000 or 20,000 square feet gets the lower tier, and you can see the full table on our pricing page. For smaller lots, our guide to what mowing costs in Cypress covers the lower tiers.
Why do bigger lots cost more per visit? Time is the main reason, since a larger lot takes longer to mow and the edges grow along with it. There is more trimming around trees, beds, and fences, more edging along driveways and walks, and more clippings to blow clear at the end. Every visit includes mowing, edging, and blowing, so all of that work grows with the size of the lot.
How often you mow matters too. We recommend weekly service, because grass grows fast in Houston and few people want to see their lawn long. Mowing less often costs more per visit, since the grass is taller by the time a crew arrives and each visit takes longer. You pick a schedule when you get a quote, and the pricing page shows how the choices compare.
One more thing can change the first bill. If a lawn has gone about two weeks or longer without a mow, a 15% charge applies to the first cut only, which is shown on the quote page before you pay and is never added to your regular rate.
Access can matter on a large property as well. Very narrow gates or blocked access may need a custom quote, which we confirm before the first cut, and lots over one acre are priced as custom quotes too.
Not sure how big your lot is? Your closing papers or survey should list the size, and your county appraisal district's online property search usually shows land area in square feet. If you still are not sure, choose the "Not sure" option on the quote page, and we will put together a custom quote for you.
Getting a price takes about a minute. You pick your lot size and schedule, and you see your price before you book. There is no annual contract, and you can cancel at any time. For lots over one acre, or if you would like to talk it through, call or email us. You can also read more about our services or our Cypress lawn mowing page.
Does a bigger lot always cost a lot more?
Not by the square foot. Prices move in steps, so every lot inside a tier has the same weekly price per visit. Moving from the 10,001 to 20,000 square foot tier to the 20,001 square foot to one acre tier currently adds $15 per visit.
